Green velvet cupcakes are no exception. Much like red velvet cupcakes, these have a velvet texture and vibrant color \u2026 green for St. Patrick\u2019s Day!<\/p>\n<p>Making these green velvet cupcakes is extremely easy and comes with the added bonus of playing with food coloring. When I\u2019m not working with coloring buttercream, I love using McCormick green food color to brighten up a cake batter. It goes perfectly with a light and fluffy white frosting that only uses a few simple ingredients.<\/p>\n<p>I keep half a dozen or so bottles of McCormick Pure Vanilla Extract on hand at any given time and it gives the fluffy frosting a great flavor.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"easyrecipe\">\n<div class=\"ERIngredients\">\n<h2 class=\"ERIngredientsHeader\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-101 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/foodfamilyfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/st-patricks-day-cupcakes-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"st-patricks-day-cupcakes\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/foodfamilyfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/st-patricks-day-cupcakes-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/foodfamilyfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/st-patricks-day-cupcakes-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/foodfamilyfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/st-patricks-day-cupcakes-768x768.jpg 768w, https:\/\/foodfamilyfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/st-patricks-day-cupcakes-1024x1024.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/foodfamilyfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/st-patricks-day-cupcakes-100x100.jpg 100w, https:\/\/foodfamilyfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/st-patricks-day-cupcakes-200x200.jpg 200w, https:\/\/foodfamilyfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/st-patricks-day-cupcakes.jpg 1875w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Ingredients<\/h2>\n<ul class=\"ingredients\">\n<li class=\"ERSeparator\">Cupcakes<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1 package (18 1\/4 ounces) German chocolate cake mix with pudding<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1 cup sour cream<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1\/2 cup water<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1\/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1\/4 cup vegetable oil<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1 bottle (1 ounce) <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mccormick.com\/spices-and-flavors\/extracts-and-food-colors\/food-colors\/green-food-color\" rel=\"nofollow\">McCormick\u00ae Green Food Color<\/a><\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">3 eggs<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">2 teaspoons McCormick\u00ae Pure Vanilla Extract<\/li>\n<li class=\"ERSeparator\">Fluffy White Frosting<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1-1\/4 cups sugar<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">3 egg whites<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1\/4 cup water<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1\/2 teaspoon cream of tartar<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1 tablespoon McCormick Pure Vanilla Extract<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ERInstructions\">\n<h2 class=\"ERInstructionsHeader\">Instructions<\/h2>\n<div class=\"instructions\">\n<ol>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Set 350\u00b0F. Add sour cream, cake mix, water, cocoa powder,\u00a0food color, oil, eggs and vanilla in a bowl with electric mixer with low speed just until moistened, scraping sides of bowl frequently.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Pour batter into 24 paper-lined muffin cups, filling each cup 2\/3 full.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Bake 20 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan 10 minutes. Remove from pans; cool completely on wire rack.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">For the frosting, in an electric mixer with the wire whisk attachment, beat the sugar, egg whites, water and cream of tartar about 3 minutes until foamy.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add the mixture to a heat safe bowl and place it over a pot of simmering water.
