Back into last week …. we spent our 4th of July grilling out and jumping around town to different fireworks shows. Despite living next to the capitol of Illinois we don’t have any displays that I would call “breathtaking” but they’re still fun to watch. The kids spent the day helping dad grill out and left me with the aftermath, which I’m still digging through.
Muffy, our newest kitty is proving to be quite the little stinker. The first couple of days she was very shy and mostly slept a lot. We even found her sleeping next to Fat Cat without any hissing going on. But since then she has turned into a little ball of energy.
Thanks to the free bowling offer for kids from AMF lanes, we’ve been spending a lot of time at the bowling alley. Despite the constant practice, I still can’t throw an 8 pound ball straight. In fact, I consider it a good game if I hit 90. Spares are impossible and strikes are complete strokes of luck. I’m convinced if I could throw a heavier ball I might actually hit more pins.
This week I’m going to focus all of my energy on getting organized for back to school. The two older kids go back on August 14th (happy dance) and our youngest starts pre-school sometime in August. I’m determined to avoid anymore back to school mishaps and get their schedules on the calendar. I already made a trip to Staples to try out the Martha Stewart wall system, which I’m soooo in love with.
And probably the worst development …. I’ve become obsessed with Famous Amos cookies. This is a wretched obsession to have during swimsuit season.
What did you do this weekend?
