It has been years since I’ve been to or even seen an actual bake sale. I remember a few of them as a kid hosted by the school I was attending but they seem to have to become a thing of the past in these parts. You’re more likely to see online bake sales in this day and age like the Virtual Bake Sale for No Kid Hungry.
Between now and May 12th you can visit Fleischmann’s Yeast on Facebook to create your own virtual bake sale? There’s no baking and no calories involved (unless you want to bake up one of the featured recipes for fun). All you need to do is click the “Start Your Own” button and select at least 10 of the available recipes to feature in your virtual bake sale stand. Then share your unique recipe page with friends on social networks. The bake sale host with the most “likes” on their baked goods at the end will win the grand prize, a KitchenAid Stand Mixer!
Fleischmann’s Yeast will also be randomly awarding a Williams Sonoma baking prize pack filled with cookie sheets, liners, cooling racks, and mini loaf pans to the hosts who have reached at least 3 ‘likes’ on their baked goods in a given week. Also, Fleischmann’s and Karo are helping end childhood hunger in America by supporting the No Kid Hungry® campaign. You’re participation will help Fleischmann’s and Karo donate $200,000 to the No Kid Hungry® campaign.
Even if you don’t want to create your own, you can visit and “like” some of the recipes in my virtual bake sale shop. You might also notice the Oatmeal Hermits recipe. I recreated this for my family to enjoy with a little twist. To make these cookies even more perfect for a real bake sale, you can bake them in foil lined cupcake liners to create a cookie that’s easy to package and share. Plus the liners are really pretty! It’s a really simple recipe that even the kids could help you make. The only thing I would change is adding in a smashed up banana or too for some added moisture and sweetness.
If you decide to create a virtual bake sale, leave a comment with your link and I’ll like one of your recipes!
I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for ACH Food Companies Inc. I received a promotional item as a thank-you for participating.
