“Don’t get discouraged!”

“Don’t get discouraged!”

“Don’t get discouraged!”

Over the last two weeks I’ve found myself repeating that phrase in my head over and over again. Every weigh in, every measurement … it feels like a set back when I don’t see numbers dropping. But, I also have to remind myself that no change is better than gaining weight. I’m not living the life of The Biggest Loser and I certainly can’t expect to drop 5 or 10 pounds each week.

That being said, I’m starting to feel like a workout rock star. Each week the Total Gym gets easier to use, workouts fly by more quickly and I’m finding that I need to increase my repetitions for some exercises like the squats. Speaking of squats, this is one single exercise that I’ve avoided for years because it always caused me knee pain and with the Total Gym, I’m not getting that same aching feeling at all. It also helps that the exercise cards include tips on proper body form, something I’ve always struggled with in the past!

Good job Cat! I also struggle to lose weight while suing my Total Gym. I have an “old school” Total Gym since it’s over 12-years-old. I don’t use it very often, and I don’t know why other than I’m lazy. But when I do, it definitely WORKS!!! My leg muscles are VERY responsive when I do those leg squats. My knees are also starting to bug me as well, but you’re right, the Total Gym exercises helps the knees.

Keep up the good work Cat. I like reading your updates on this subject. :)

Cat- You can do it! You can do it! Although you may not be seeing much change in the weight and body fat categories, the changes you are seeing in both the body measurements and how the workouts seem easier are indicators of strength build-up. Also, your heart will get stronger (can’t measure that). One thing you may need to try to lose weight is a food intake adjustment. With any weight lose, 80% is what you eat and 20% is exercise. Definitely do NOT starve yourself, but if you can cut a little bit out or improve type of food, you should see results with the exercise. I know you can do it!!!! You go girl!

  3. You are doing great! How long have you been using Total Gym? Sometimes when you start a new exercise, especially one using weights, it can take 4 to 6 weeks before you really start to see the bigger results of your efforts. (that’s because your body starts out by retaining a lot of water to help with healing your newly-used muscles and in response to the unaccustomed exercise, but eventually the muscles heal and tear less with each workout and the body stops panicking about the new exercise when it is no longer so new.)

Besides, losing weight gradually is better for several reasons. 1 – You are more likely to keep the weight off. 2 – You are less likely to cause yourself a lack of any vitamins or injury during workouts. and 3 – You are less likely to suffer from the loose, saggy skin that would be left over after losing weight more quickly.

  4. Best thing to do is remain positive and keep moving forward. You’ve already crossed 1 milestone. That’s making the commitment to exercise and make an effort. keep up the good work

  5. I think you look great Cat! Keep it up! Don’t give up!

  6. You can do it Cat, I always start to lose weight then stall out for a week or two then drop more.

You’re doing great, keep up the good work Cat!

    Cat,

3 weeks ago my husband suggested we purchase a total gym – he had just watched an infomericial and was totally excited. I was skeptical, but did some checking online. I found many of the mom blogs for the challenge. I decided to purchase the total gym. We have had it a week now and both love it. Thanks to you, the rest of the mom’s taking the challenge, and my husband’s excitement over that infomercial, I finally have an excercise machine that I WANT to use.

  8. I watch the Biggest Loser too, and sometimes I wish I could drop the weight like that and then I have Chinese for dinner lol ;) I’m not sure I would last long on the ranch!

You are doing great Cat, just stay consistent and I am sure you will see the results you are looking for.

  9. Losing weight and getting into shape takes TIME. I think you are right on in saying “Don’t Get Discouraged!” I liked your comment about you saying you aren’t living the live of the biggest loser. Yes, you are living in real life with kids, and the stress of being a mom. Keep it up Cat, you are doing great!
