Meet the Tassimo from Bosch

With the TASSIMO machine and the TASSIMO Discs (T DISCs) you can make the hot beverage you want, when you want it. No Fuss. No Mess. he same machine that makes a freshly brewed coffee and real espresso also makes milk based lattes and cappuccinos, steeped tea and rich hot chocolate. Each cup is freshly brewed to celebrate its true character.

The TASSIMO system also comes with its own water filter to ensure that only pure water is used to expertly brew your hot beverage.

The T DISCs

The ingenious TASSIMO Disc (T DISC) is designed to work exclusively with the TASSIMO machine. Each T DISC contains a precisely measured amount of coffee, tea, chocolate, or concentrated milk, and is sealed to protect the precious flavor inside.

When you insert the T DISC, the machine reads the bar code printed on the label. It automatically calculates the amount of water needed, brewing time, and temperature required to prepare the perfect beverage.

Our Tassimo Experience

I was first introduced to the TASSIMO at the International Home and Housewares Bosch Appliance booth in Chicago last month. While visiting, I had the opportunity to see how this product works and sample a hot beverage. At that point, I was really impressed by 1) how quickly the beverages can be made and 2) the number of specialty drink options that the Tassimo can make.

Unlike a typical coffee maker or even the Keurig Single Cup Brewer, the TASSIMO goes beyond basic coffees and allows you to make specialty drinks like lattes and cappuccinos right at home.

The initial set up process took a little less than 15 minutes and involved preparing the water filter and running water through the system a few times. The filter itself is completely optional. So if you are like me and happen to be running low on extra spending money one month, you can ditch the filter and just use plain tap water.

One of the first things I discovered about the Tassimo was the cost of the T-Discs. At first glace, spending $12 for the Starbucks Coffee® Cappuccino Primo T-Discs (makes 8 drinks) seemed outrageous. But when you compare that to an actual visit to Starbucks, you could easily spend over $25 for that plus the inconvenience of having to leave your house.

Another big difference for me was the Hot Chocolate T-Discs … which I’ll show you more on in this quick video demonstration of the Tassimo.

Overall, I do really like the Tassimo, but like any product it has it’s advantages and disadvantages in comparison to competing products. For instance, with the Keurig you can use any brand of coffee you’d like with the My K-Cup where as with the Tassimo T-Discs you are limited to the current brand selection available. On the other hand, the Tassimo takes up far less counter top space, offers filtered water and brews more than just a basic coffee drink.
