After a quick drive through our neighborhood one thing I’ve quickly noticed is how close it is to Halloween. Yards are filling up with spooky decor, tree branches swaying with white ghosts and of course, the pumpkins, they’re everywhere. Thanks to Target, our family spent the weekend preparing our own outdoor decorations for the upcoming holiday.

When I visited online, I found an assortment of fun do-it-yourself Halloween crafts that are not only very affordable to create but fun and easy for children to help with too!

We started off our fun-filled weekend with a trip to the pumpkin patch where we found tons of pumpkins of all shapes and sizes to decorate our front porch. One of Target’s DIY projects offers printable carving stencils but since our daughter’s needed something super easy, we carved a simple face and made it lots of fun with stick on pumpkin face decorations.

The stick on decorations are great for younger children that don’t quite have the skills for carving or painting faces yet. Plus a fuzzy mustache adds a little silliness to a somewhat scary holiday.

Even more fun is creating decorative lighting with just a few simple supplies. You can turn ordinary white paper bags into sidewalk lanterns using your printer and flameless candles to light up the path for trick-or-treaters.

While the lanterns and pumpkin carving were both a lot of fun for the kids, I personally enjoyed making a trick-or-treat bag for my daughter. Having never done an iron-on transfer before, I was surprised at just how cool these look and how easy they are. I let my daughter pick out her favorite stencil from the Target DIY Halloween guide and helped her create a fun bag personalized with her name, fuzzy colored balls and ribbon.

If you’re looking for some easy and creative do-it-yourself Halloween decorations, be sure to check out the Target Halloween section where you’ll find the supplies and instructions to create each of these projects. Plus you’ll see some great deals on costumes and candy!

Cute stuff! We got some fun ghost lights for our windows from Target. Hopefully in the next week, we can do some pumpkins! I love your lanterns. The flameless candles are perfect since we’re in an apartment.

I LOVE the fake eyelashes on the pumpkin. What a CUTE idea. We just got pumpkins this past weekend and the kids are wanting to carve them already.

Emma’s treat bag turned out so cute! I need to get more flameless candles for our luminaries – they’re so cool and I’ve always wanted to have a bunch on Halloween.

    Aw, how fun!

It’s always nice to do crafts with kids-I honestly think that’s why my sister and I enjoy crafts as much as we do because my mom promoted them at a very early age :)

I hope you guys are enjoying all your Halloween preparations!!

This looks like such fun! I like DIY. Except for a few accessories–vampire teeth, etc–we always made our own costumes.
