For years and I literally mean years, I’ve been searching for the secret to a soft cut-out sugar cookie. While I’ll always have a special place in my heart for cut-out sugar cookies I’ve made with my mom for over 20 years during every holiday, these are something else.
On the outside the frosted sugar cookies look pretty typical, maybe thicker than normal, but still typical. However, when you bite into one you get a sugar cookie experience like no other. It’s soft, even cake-like and melts in your mouth. The dough isn’t overly sweet and not something I’d love by itself, I’d like it, but not love it.What makes these extra special is the sour cream in the dough and the sweet buttercream frosting on top.
And just in time for Halloween, you can make these delightful cookies festive with orange frosting and black/orange/white sprinkles.
