Recipe: Hugged and Dipped Summer Strawberries

Summer snuck right up on is this year. We went from a cool spring to sizzling heat in a matter of days. Which means…the fields are plumping up with sweet, red strawberries. It’s dippedstrawberrylargealways been a tradition to head out and pick fresh strawberries with my mom ever summer and this year won’t be an exception. We’ve called ahead the strawberries will be ready to pick next week. So be on the lookout for more great summer strawberry recipes in the next few weeks.

In the mean time, here’s an easy way to enjoy store bought strawberries.

What You’ll Need:

  • fresh strawberries
  • bag of Hershey’s Hugs
  • wax paper
  • heat safe glass bowl (Pyrex)
  • small cooking pot

Let’s get dipping!

1. Over high heat, play your small cooking pot on the stove with at least 2 inches of water. Place heat safe glass bowl on top of the cooking pot and bring to a boil. Note: careful! the escaping steam from under the bowl can cause serious burns.

2. Unwrap and place 1 cup of Hershey Hugs into glass bowl, gently stir until melted.

3. Once chocolate is melted, turn off your heat. Hold strawberries by the greens that have been cleaned and dried. Dip into chocolate and rotate so that most of the strawberry is covered.
