RECIPE | Fried Caramel Apple-cake Rings

Now that the mornings are feeling a bit more chilly it’s actually starting to feel like Fall around here. I can’t help but think of my favorite cool weather flavors like apples and caramel. These apple-cake rings bring together both flavors that you can enjoy for breakfast (or dessert).

Fried Caramel Apple-cake Rings
Type: Breakfast
  • 2 Granny Smith Apples
  • 1 cup Bisquick
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon McCormick Apple Pie Spice
  • ½ teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • caramel sauce (optional)
  1. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together all the ingredients (except for apples). Set aside.
  3. Using a large knife, slice the apple into rings about ⅛ inch thick, remove the peel and cut a ring in the center to remove the core.
  4. Dip the apple ring into the batter with a fork and tap off the excess batter for a few seconds.
  5. Fry the apple ring on each side until golden brown.
  6. Serve with a drizzle of caramel sauce or maple syrup.
