Dipped and Decorated Rice Krispies Treat Eggs for Easter

Three simple ingredients combined together make one of my absolute favorite treats of all time.

  • Butter
  • Marshmallows
  • Rice Krispies cereal

We’re talking about Rice Krispies Treats my friends. They’re easy enough for a child to make (with supervision of course) and can be molded into just about any shape imaginable. For Easter, we thought it would be fun to mold our treats into egg shapes.

It all starts with a very simple recipe … 4 TBS butter and 4 cups of mini marshmallows melted over a low heat along with 7 cups of Rice Krispies cereal mixed in.

You simply use any size of plastic Easter eggs, coated in non-stick cooking spray and stuff them with warm Rice Krispies Treats mix and let them sit for about 10 minutes.

If you’d like to make them extra special, fill the center with a candy before molding the eggs. We used gum eggs for the centers of ours.

While I’m sure there are a million and one ways to decorate these, one flavor combination I love is cereal treats and Wilton candy melts. You can dip and decorate the eggs with bright Easter colors and all sorts of candy decorations.

Tip — To achieve the marbled candy colors seen below, just use a piping bag filled with three different Wilton Candy Melts colors. For these marbled eggs I striped each side of my piping bag with pink, blue and purple.

Another fun way to serve up these Rice Krispies Treat Eggs is to use props. You can put them on sticks with a clear candy bag tied off with ribbon or use these fun Easter Basket Cupcake Wrapp from Wilton.

No matter what treats you bake this Easter, I hope you have fun doing it. Happy Easter friends!

Easy Pumpkin Rice Krispies Treats for Halloween

What’s better than putting on one of your handmade rugs, jumping down on the couch, and enjoying a batch of pumpkin treats? This past weekend the kids and I spent a lot of time with pumpkin. Between picking them at the patch and carving them for the front porch, we were in pumpkin heaven. So it only made sense to get in the kitchen and make some pumpkin fun in there too.

I was digging through my stash of Wilton baking pans and ran into the Ice Cream Cookie Bowl pan that I had completely forgotten about. Turns out, it’s pretty darn perfect for making a realistic shaped pumpkin when filled with Rice Krispies Treats.

To make these, all you need is your favorite Rice Krispies Treats recipe, the Wilton Ice Cream Cup Pan and a few small helpers eager to celebrate Halloween. Alternatively, if you don’t have this pan, you could always just rolls the treats into a ball with your hands.

While you’re melted the marshmallows and butter, add a little orange or red/yellow to create a nice bright orange color.

(My favorite way to make Rice Krispies Treats: 6 TBS butter slightly browned, a splash of vanilla extract, 10.5 oz mini marshmallows, 6 cups of Rice Krispies cereal)

Once the molded treats cool, you can place two of them together to create a pumpkin shape.

Use a little green cookie icing to draw on some vine squigglies.

A tootsie roll on top makes a great looking stem.

You can eat the Pumpkin Rice Krispies Treats plain or draw on Jack-o-Lantern faces with black cookie icing.
