About a year and half ago our dishwasher BROKE!
I seriously wanted to cry. I grew up with a dishwasher, had one in every apartment we ever lived in and our new house came with one. Doing dishes by hand was not something I was familiar with and honestly, I didn’t want to be familiar with it. In a house of five, there are a ton of dishes to get cleaned on a daily basis. To do those by hand would wreak havoc on my skin and you know what, it did. I spent months having to do dishes by hand and it caused terrible eczema breakouts.
When were finally able to buy a new one it was wonderful and worked well enough. But when the Maytag Jetclean Plus arrived, everything was right in my world again.
There were some adjustments to start, like figuring out how to organize the racks. Stacking bowls on the top rack was completely new to me. And putting dishes that hadn’t been pre-rinsed first, unheard of. But look below, food particles and gunk all over those dishes and they went in the dishwasher like that.
The control panel makes it easy to choose a cycle and it’s suppose to be hidden under the edge of the countertop but the guys that installed ours didn’t do a very good job. In fact, the whole top is protruding out and uneven. But I can still use it and the kids aren’t messing with it mid-cycle.
It also features a 4-Blade Stainless Steel Chopper that pulverizes chunks of food which is why I can put dishes in there that aren’t pre-rinsed.
One of my favorite features is the adjustable top rack. I do a lot of baking and cookie sheets tend to be too tall for dishwashers. You can press the buttons on either side of the top rack and raise or lower it depending on your needs. Now I don’t have to hand wash anything at all, including large cutting boards.
Whether I’m using the quick wash or auto wash cycle, the dishes come out perfectly clean every single time!
It’s a good thing I’ve got a dependable dishwasher because my son is frequently dirtying up with the Maytag Over-the-Range Microwave. When he’s not using the hand kid’s menu to reheat pizza, I’m reheating casseroles on the WideGlide rectangular tray that moves in a Fox Trot dance-like movement for even cooking.
