Nothing says family dinner like spaghetti and meatballs! But what’s a mom to do when the family says, “awww man, not spaghetti again!” Yes, that implies I cook spaghetti an awful lot. But can you blame me? It’s good, it’s cheap, it’s quick and well…it’s spaghetti. This time I decided to change it up them just a little bit and incorporated a little gooey surprise in the meatballs – mozzarella cheese!
Ingredients You’ll Need:
- 1 1lb of ground beef
- 1/2 cup Italian Bread Crumbs
- 1 large egg
- 2 sticks of mozzarella string cheese
- your favorite pasta and red sauce
Let’s get Cooking!
Step 1 – Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. In a large bowl, combine bread crumbs, egg and ground beef. Mix thouroughly, best if done by hand. This would be a good time to enlist the help of the freshly washed hands of an older child or husband.
Step 2 - Cut each mozzarella cheese stick into 6 evenly sized cubes.
Step 3 – Roll a hunk of the meat mixture into a ball about the size of a golf ball, slightly flatten the meatball and push a cheese cube right into the center. Smooth your meatball back into shape and place on a greased baking sheet.
Step 4 – Once all 12 meatballs are ready, bake for 25 minutes and serve over spaghetti and sauce.

looks yummy Cat!
Those look so good. I never would have thought to put mozzarella in meatballs. Don’t know why since our family all loves cheese lol
Yum!! I will have to try this for sure! You could even use these meatballs in a sub :)
We made this for dinner last night. OH MY STARS! Not only was it fun to make with Lil Man but it was delicious. Thank you for sharing this recipe.
