American Girl rang in the new year with the introduction of McKenna, a new doll and 3 book set that is sure to excite little girls all over the country. I know because I saw just how excited Kaydee was when her very own McKenna doll arrived just after Christmas.

The new doll and book set shares the story of ten-year old McKenna, a girl who has always done well in school and gymnastics. When she starts 4th grade, life suddenly changes for her. Suddenly school becomes difficult and she meets an unexpected friend an tutor. Josie, a super smart and confident girl, who also happens to be wheelchair bound becomes McKenna’s guide through her challenges and together they help reach McKenna’s academic goals.

Just as McKenna gets back on track she’s sidelined with an injury that threatens her chances of earning a spot on the competitive gymnastics team. Moving onto book two, McKenna faces new difficulties as her friendships are tested when McKenna tries to be there for everyone and loses sight of her own goals.

As a parent, the story is one I love sharing with my daughters. Even though they aren’t old enough to read the books, they do understand the stories being read to them and it gives me a chance to talk about role models and how to be good a friend.

American Girl provided me with a doll and press kit that included books and information. Opinions expressed are my own.

That is Zoe’s middle name and spelled the same! We do not have any AG dolls just yet, but that will change in a few years:)

Exciting! I must confess…I was never into dolls as a kid but my daughter loves them. Her aunt got her Marie Grace for Christmas and now she is very into American Girl!

I wasn’t big into dolls either but I always did want an AG doll, my parents just couldn’t afford it. I’m glad my girls get to experience them the way I didn’t and I can live through them. :)

LOL I don’t blame you. We had to avoid the AG store when we were in downtown Chicago this summer or they would have bankrupt me.

Very cute. I would love buying these things if I had girls to share them with. My boys wouldn’t be too happy if I bought them dolls.

My daughter received a couple of the mini dolls for Christmas and likes playing with them. McKenna would be perfect for her if only the eyes were brown!
