Last week I announced my participation in Fire Safety Month with The Home Depot and this week I have some new products to share with you. In addition to smoke detectors and CO alarms, there are some important tools to have in your home in case of a fire.
There are dozens of ways fires can start in a home. For me, my biggest worry is a kitchen fire. I cook on an electric stove and use many electrical appliances. Should one burst into flames, we have a small Kidde fire extinguisher placed under our kitchen sink. It’s conveniently placed so that anyone in our family can use it to extinguish a small fire. Kidde fire extinguishers can be used for all of your home fires including; trash, wood, paper, liquid, gas and electrical equipment fires. With a 6 to 8 foot discharge range and 8 to 12 second discharge time, you’ll be ready as soon as a fire appears. The easy to read pressure gauge helps you check to make sure the extinguisher is in working order, even before a fire breaks out.
In the event of a home fire that can’t be put out with our fire extinguisher, we created an escape route for our children.
Another important product for your family’s safety is Life+Gear’s fire safety night light. These lights are activated by the sound of your smoke alarm, guiding you to safety in the event of a fire. If a fire starts, you and your family may have as little as two minutes to escape a dangerous situation, and these night lights help you make the best use of that time. With multiple night lights, you can create a path to all of the exits in your home! We used the test button on our fire alarm and watched as the safety night light was activated just by the sound!
Last week we gave away a fire safety kit from Kidde and The Home Depot. Congrats to SARAH L who won the giveaway!

The giveaway winner will be chosen at random and prize fulfillment will be handled by a third party.
