Did you know that I haven’t had a night out with my friends in nearly 8 years? That’s right, 8 long years! As a mom, life gets incredibly busy between the daily upkeep of our home, school functions and having overly attached children. It wasn’t until the past year that I even had the opportunity to enjoy a few date nights with my own husband.
Knowing I’m certainly not alone in moms lacking time to have a night out with the girls, I’m really excited about the opportunity to not only have a night out but share one with a very lucky mom (details below).
Having never been to Outback Steakhouse before, I’m eagerly browsing the online menu and found two incredible looking dishes that I can’t wait to try. The first dish my eyes wandered to … the Outback Bloomin’ Onion which certainly looks big enough to share with my friends.
Also, being the lover of desserts that I am, I couldn’t help but notice the Strawberry Waffle Shortcake described as — warm layers of homemade waffle shortcake and almond sweet cream filling topped with fresh strawberries, whipped cream and toasted almonds. I also hear that the sweet cream filling is made with Philadelphia Cream Cheese! You certainly can’t go wrong with that and I’ll have the dish on this delicious dessert in a few weeks!

I’ve just completed five longs months of life in the office with tax season. Six days a week, 14 hours a day, then home to the usual chores of dishes, laundry, floors, cleaning, wash, rinse, repeat. Doing all this while making time for three of the most precious little boys in the world … love it … BUT this Nana needs a night out that includes eating a good meal and adult conversation. Hopefully I’ll be able to do it without reaching over to wipe someones mouth or cut their steak for them :-)

Something comes up and there goes my $. I’ve had to replace my roof which I am still paying off and now come to find out my Insurance company is going to drop me if I don’t get sidings for my house, so here comes more money I don’t have and probably never have a girls night out or any kind of night out again.

All moms deserve a night out to “miss” their children. Why me more than another? Not really sure except that I just completed my A Goal for 2011. I ran 50 miles. Yep. 50. While my family is not all running lovers too they are all seeing their mom do several things that I hope they will carry into their own lives; setting goals, I hope they set goals for themselves to continue their own personal growth throughout their lives; pushing their limits, I hope that they never feel anything is beyond what they can do; staying active, I want them to know that they need to exercise/be active on purpose every single day; make time for themselves, I want them to value themselves before reaching for the love of another person; set a positive example, I want my kids to do all these things for their kids and everyone around them.
I think I would love a girls night out to have time with my friends to talk about what we each are doing for ourselves that helps us and helps teach our families! Besides, that blooming onion looks amazing! I’m going to go run now to burn off the calories since I just know I’m going to win. ;-)

Its been years since I’ve had a night out with the girls, or any night out period, I have been unemployed since 2009 and things are tight so going out for the fun of it just isnt in the budget, so yes I would love to have a night out to enjoy some gossip, girl talk, great food and no stress thinking about the bills or worrying that I am spending grocery money or wasting money on myself which is something I cant do, I would really love to have a night of fun and laughter with a few of my good friends that are also in similar situations as me.

I’ve spent most of my life volunteering and helping others. I founded the Lupus Foundation of America Utah Chapter, served on the board of the Paul Jacobsen Spinal Cord Foundation (Hospital to Home), raised three children by myself, etc. It’s way past time to kick back with the girls.

A girls’ night out – I don’t know if I’m more deserving or my girl friends are. #1 is married to a doctor & has two kids (pregnant with #3) – so her life is just busy busy. #2 is married to a youth pastor with one little guy and a full-time job – I know she needs a break! #3 is married to a teacher with one little guy & another on the way plus a full-time job. Just normal, everyday moms who just need a break. And me, I have two sons (1 has autism and 1 has a LOT of energy) with a husband and a full running training schedule.

I don’t get out with the girls very often. I’ve raised 4 kids and 1 husband. It took me 41 years but I’ve finally gotten the husband broken-in pretty good and the kids are now all on their own. I need a night out with the girls.
When our group of friend get together it always involves the wives cooking and cleaning up. I think we deserve to go out and be waited on and the husbands can stay home and cook for themselves.

I believe I deserve a night out because I spend every day and night with my 11 month old. I have not been out to dinner without him since he was born. I have a massive pain condition and nerve damage that makes me have a lot of bad days but I have never stopped getting up with my baby. Well…. I can understand about being a busy girl! I have a husband, 2 cats & 1 dog! I also have a full time job! I haven’t been out with the girls since December. Since that time I have been overly stressed with remodeling our kitchen and replacing numerous rugs in our home. I had to run around getting samples, making design decisions, changing things, finding contractors, etc. All while working. Ugh. It has been caotic to say the least. The project will be officially completed on April 25th. After that, I could really use a girls night out to unwind.

Except for during school time, I haven’t been away from my girls in over a year. The only time I’m with other women is when i’m doing pto stuff or at my daughter’s ball practice and i’m with the other moms. I had back surgery 8 wks ago. I’m starting to feel better now. If I won this I would take out my girlfriends from work. I could catch up on the gossip I’ve missing while being on leave with my back.

I can not complain about my pregnancy (at least not too much). It was a veryhealthy pregnancy, and my son is beautiful. BUT my healthy pregancy included nine months of naseua and eating was something to be endured rather than enjoyed. Now that baby is here, my appetite has returned and food tastes good again. My best friend is graduating in May with her Masters Degree and I would like to take her out along with her friends and family. She is also on a gluten-free diet and Outback has a GREAT gluten-free menu !
I can’t work because of my daughter’s needs, so our entertainment budget is limited to Red Box rentals and $4.00 pizza night from Domino’s. I’m not trying to play pitiful here, but gift cards and the occasional Groupon are the only way my family gets to eat out. I would enjoy some super needed Mommy time out with the girls, but would have to make sure my family got to enjoy this prize with me.
