In Sickness and In Health – Valentine’s Day 2012

Eleven years ago today my husband and I celebrated our first Valentine’s Day together. Truth be told, I can’t remember a single thing about it. But I doubt I’ll forget how we’re celebrating love this year …. in sickness. The poor guy got struck with the stomach flu last week and then some “gallbladder sludge” issues and infection thrown in the mix made for a very sick man. Romantic eh?

Since he’s on a strict clear liquid diet for the next few days, I’m feeling bad I can’t surprise him with heart shaped pancakes for breakfast or an afternoon of sweet baked sugar cookies. If anything, seeing those would probably feel like torture. Since my usual ways of sharing my love through baking have to be set aside today, I figure the best thing I can do is take care of him, the way a loving wife should with Jello, popsicles and Sprite — his top 3 requests these days.

Until next year, I leave you with a few of my favorite Valentine’s Day recipes ….. and a Happy Valentine’s Day to your and the ones you love!

red velvet rice krispies heart wilton chocolate peanut butter cups heart shaped pancakes
