Now that Thanksgiving is officially behind us, I can’t wait to start decorating my home for Christmas. While we haven’t yet pulled out the tree and ornaments, I did start the decorating with some festive garland for the windows and hung the Christmas stockings. Since we no longer live in a home with a fireplace, we don’t have a mantel to hang our stockings and with little ones in the house, using the heavy metal stocking hangers isn’t a safe option for us. What I’ve found works well is using a pack of 3M hooks to hang the stockings. They’re great for walls, window edges or in our case, the entertainment center. They go on easy and come off cleaning making them perfect for temporary holiday decorating.
After properly spacing the hooks along the edge of our entertainment center, each stocking has a place to hang. As you can see, we had just enough room for our festive Winter Wonderland Stockings.
To add a little festive touch, you can pick up a strand of holiday garland for a few dollars at the craft store to cover up the hooks.
You may also notice that our stockings are all a similar style but with different holiday characters. I was so excited to find that an online store called Personal Creations creates personalized stockings with themed designs for families as large as ours.
Each stocking comes with free name embroidery and the characters including Santa, Mrs. Claus, Reindeer, Snowman and Penguin each are 3D designs. From a puffy flowing beard on Santa to a soft scarf wrapped around the penguin’s neck, they each have their own festive touches. These stockings are also quite large leaving plenty of room to stuff plenty of “stocking stuffers” inside along with some candy.

Super cute!! I haven’t decided where we are going to hang ours yet. I still need to get our names embroidered on them! We moved this year so we don’t have a mantle anymore. I don’t even know where we are going to put our tree yet either.
Love the stockings, they look great!
I’m sure you’ll find the perfect spot for them. If it hadn’t been for the top piece on our entertainment center I probably just would have hung them from a wall.
These are cute! Thanks for sharing them :)
I love how you his the 3M with the garland! It looks really nice!
I think I might do something like this but right on the wall. We don’t have an entertainment center, or a shelf or a mantle….nothing stocking friendly. I’ll use the skinny part of the wall near the stairs, it should look good! Thanks for the idea.
I absolutely love it! Very clever :)
those are gorgeous! i would love to know what type of camera or what setting you are using.. stunning pics!
Courtney, those are actually pics from the new iPhone4s, the camera on that little phone has definitely improved. Then I use the Instagram app to add effects.
Those are the same hooks we use to hang our stockings with on our mantle.
They work wonderfully. I use them all over the house for everything.
That’s so cute! We don’t have a mantle either and it looks kind of unfestive with stocking just tacked to the wall, plus I hate all the holes. I’m going to have to pick up some 3M products and will definitely check out Personal Creations. Those stockings are adorable!
