The weather has been extremely hot lately, almost too hot to do any cooking in the house. Rather than battle our failing air conditioner with a burning hot stove, we took the heat outside to the grill to try some new marinades on our favorite meats.
Thanks to Lawry’s, made famous by their tasty seasoned salt that we use for just about everything, we received this incredible grilling kid that included some new 30 minute marinades. In addition to the two new marinades, Tuscan Sun Dried Tomato and Szechuan Sweet & Sour BBQ, there are over a dozen more flavor combinations that you can check out at Lawry’s online product guide.
The one thing I’ve always wanted to try on the grill is kabobs! Not only do they look fun to make but they’re so beautiful when you include all sorts of fresh vegetables. So that is exactly what we made tonight!
I cut up two chicken breasts, two sirloin steaks and seasoned them with Lawry’s seasoning salt.
The Sun Dried Tomato marinade sounded perfect for the chicken and the Szechuan Sweet & Sour BBQ for the beef. I just popped them both into plastic storage bags and let them marinate for about 30 minutes in the refridgerator while my husband, Jon, fired up the grill.
And you know what, I was right. Creating the kabobs with all of the fresh vegetables, including sweet bell peppers, yellow onion and grape tomatoes was a lot of fun.
After a few minutes on the grill, these came out delicious! I do have to say I really loved the flavors of the sun dried tomato a lot more than I did the Szechuan Sweet & Sour BBQ. It has a very strong and almost overpowering flavor while the sun dried tomato was fresh and complimented the chicken perfectly. Served next to some grilled hobo potatoes with red bell pepper, it was the perfect grilling night in our house thanks to Lawry’s.

We LOVE Kabobs lately. I just love the how tender fresh garden veggies get on the grill and love how marinades can really jazz up the flavors. The Sun Dried Tomato sounds sooo good. I eat sun dried tomatoes like candy, so I’d probably just do a veggie kabob or some pan grilled chicken breast with that.
I love the way you used the sauces I would add pineapple too and serve with Quinoa and roasted ears of corn and some vanilla ice cream !
Ok now that just sounded amazingly delicious! I may have to try that!

I would use the sundried tomatoe to marinade some chicken breast overnight. Then I’d grill them out and add some mozzerella, basil and sliced grape tomatoes. Yum-O! And the Sweet & Sour BBQ would go great on grilled pork chops.
I’d use these marinades for kabobs!
Beef or chicken, bell peppers, cherry tomatoes & onion.

These would be perfect for warm grilled chicken and rice salad, so that’s what I’d do first. I do grilled chicken and veggies, then cut into bite-sized pieces and mix with brown rice and some of the (reserved!!) marinade into brown rice. Kinda like a fried rice, only it’s not fried.
Last night we did pork kebobs with grilled corn, onion, red and banana pepper, tomato, and zucchini with World Harbors fajita marinade, cilantro and parsley. It was fantastic!
My husband would LOVE it if we would win these flavors. And me too of course. We love doing shishkabobs and getting some great chicken tenders and cutting up the pieces to use this would be great. Garden fresh veggies along with them, what a great summer treat.
We are huge Lawry’s fans and I am excited to hear they have some new flavors for us to try. Keeping our skewers crossed we win. LOL

We love grilling pork tenderloin it is an absolute favorite around here in summer, I’m pretty sure I’d use them for that. We’ve never made kabobs on our grill, now you have me inspired!
We also use pork cubes on our kabobs. Even though it says 30 minute marinade, I like to leave them in overnight.
We make up skewers of just veggies which lets me make sure the meat is done without having the veggies fall off.
