Living a “green” life has become something that our family has been working on rather slowly. It started with replacing old bulbs with energy-efficient light bulbs, got better when we upgraded to energy efficient appliances and our best green movement yet has been the garden we plant every Spring. It’s important to teach our children how to conserve, reduce and recycle. And it’s a constant learning process. That’s why I entered our daughter’s elementary school into the Global Green USA Green School Makeover competition presented by Pureology.
It’s a chance for our children, the future recyclers of the world, to learn how to create an environment that’s safe, comfortable and free of harmful toxins. That movement doesn’t stop at the home, it should be present in every aspect of their lives, including the school they attend.
About the Green School Makeover Competition
Every child deserves a learning environment that’s safe, comfortable and free of harmful toxins. Unfortunately, many schools across the country lack the funds to carry out much-needed repairs and renovations—subjecting children to outdated facilities with improper ventilation, poor lighting and inefficient energy usage. Global Green USA is working to address this situation and ensure that every child has the opportunity to learn in a healthy, green school.
You can help by nominating a school in your area for a Green School Makeover!
