For many family’s, Mac n Cheese is serious business. Everyone has a preference when it comes to shape, type of cheese, creaminess and so on. That battle even happens for boxed mac. There’s white cheese, yellow cheese, processed cheese, real cheddar, whole grain, organic and the list goes on and on. One thing is for sure though, everyone has their own personal favorite.
Our little family of five proves just how diverse those favorites can be thanks to this simple, but fun taste test.
I prepared 4 boxes of macaroni and cheese, two different brands and 2 different pasta shapes.
When it came down to the shells there was a clear division with the boys of the house preferring the Back to Nature Organic Shells and Cheddar Macaroni & Cheese and us three girls preferring the leading competitor organic shells & cheese. For me, the biggest difference here was the competitor’s cheese actually tasted a lot cheesier while the Back to Nature almost felt chalky.
Then we sampled the shapes. It wasn’t even close, the Back to Nature Crazy Bugs Macaroni & Cheese was extra creamy and delicious and took 4 votes over the competitor which was rather dry and bland.
ALL AROUND BEST
When it was all said and done, there really only could be one winner. After another round of sampling with 3 votes, the Back to Nature Crazy Bugs Macaroni & Cheese hit the spot for us. As for the boys, I’m throwing their votes out, clearly they have no taste. :P
Whatever brand your family prefers, I think what’s most important is that you look for one that’s certified organic and doesn’t include preservatives or artificial flavors. For me, Back to Nature is that brand.
