New Products from Wilton for CUPCAKES!

January was a pretty low-key month in my house and mostly mess-free in my kitchen. Why? I didn’t get to do as much baking as I usually do. I spent most of the month sick between a lingering cold and then got hit with the flu and some sort of sinus infection.

For the first time in over two months I’m actually feeling pretty healthy, aside from this lingering sinus infection going on. That said, I did get a little baking done. A package full of new products from Wilton arrived and I couldn’t wait to dig and check out all of the new stuff. The theme? Cupcakes!

Black and Pink Cupcakes for Valentine's Day

The first product I tried out is the new Two Tone Cupcake set that helps you create cupcakes with two different colors or flavors of cake batter. If you already have a stock pile of cupcake pans you can also just purchase the two tone cupcake insert and use your own pan.

So here’s how it works … first you insert all of your cupcake liners and then the plastic insert. You spoon one flavor or color of cake batter in the center divider and choose a different color or flavor to spoon into the outer ring.

Then you slowly pull the insert out of the pan and you’re left a two-toned cupcake. I was a little worried that the colors would bleed into each other but when I cut into one after baking, they look pretty darn cute! You could have a lot fun with flavor combos like: banana & chocolate, strawberry & shortcake, orange dreamsicle with orange & french vanilla. The possibilities are endless there. You could even color white cake batter to match team colors for a Superbowl party.

Two Tone Cupcakes

We also had some fun with the new square brownie pan and made these Black Forest Brownie bites. You could of course use it for cupcakes because Wilton even makes square cupcake liners.

  124. R. Hughes says:

I’ve tried the two tone cupcake maker and found after a messy attempt to fill – the plastic insert would not pull out easy. Anyone else have this problem? I tried pushing the batter out with fingers, tapping it against the counter —- nothing! I thought about spraying the insert with Pam prior. I also think a thin batter works best in this situation.
