Now that October is here, there’s one thing on the mind’s of children, especially mine. Trick-or-Treating. It’s the best day of the month filled with candy, festive decorations and a chance to express individual creativity. When getting ready for Halloween our kids always like to start by picking out their costumes. Every year they surprise us with a different theme idea. In the past we’ve had a bumblebee, a Care Bear, sparkly witches and so much more.
This year we wanted to try something a little different and used the online KMart Kreator, a virtual costume dressing room that let’s you explore a world of costume themes. We sat down with each of the kids to look at some of the fun ideas including: zombies, princesses, video game characters and more. Ultimately, it came down to finding a costume that matched each child’s personality.
Kaydee, the girly-girl of the family chose a pretty fairy costume in her favorite shade of blue. Matt, since he’s 11 and a bit rebellious, we picked for him and thought it might fun to send him out as a giant blue Crayola crayon. And of course there’s Emma, our mermaid loving daughter who found the perfect mermaid costume to represent her love of Princess Ariel.
The KMart Kreator is a lot of fun and really easy to use. You can upload a photo of your child and try on as many costumes and accessories as you want. When you find the perfect fit, you can order it right from the KMart online store to be delivered to your house or pick-up in a local store.
Aside from the costumes and candy, we like to do a little Fall/Halloween decorating. We got a head start this year by setting out some gourds that we grew in our backyard and next we’re heading over to KMart to pick up some porch lighting and pumpkin statues to set the mood for our little trick-or-treaters.
