I know I’ve been talking quite a bit about lunch lately, especially when it comes to how bored I’ve become with lunches. With two of our kids in school and the youngest at home with me I often find it difficult to cook for two, especially since I’m usually cooking for five very hearty appetites. We’ve gone through our fair share of frozen meals, canned soups, sandwiches and other quick meals of that sort. Something new we recently tried are the new ¬†Barilla Microwaveable meals.

Each dish is made with no preservatives and even comes in a whole grain pasta variety. In fact, there are five flavors in all including: Tomato & Basil, Marinara, Spicy Marinara, WHOLE GRAIN Tomato & Basil and WHOLE GRAIN Vegetable Marinara.

There’s quite a few reasons we quickly fell in love with these pasta dishes starting with the fact that they don’t need to be frozen or refrigerated. I can stack them up in my pantry without taking up precious freezer space. Even better, each microwaveable meal is done in exactly 60 seconds. Lunch doesn’t get much quicker than that especially when I’ve got limited time to run errands before the kids need picked up from the bus stop.

As you can see from the photos above, these pasta meals easy to prepare and you get to choose how much sauce you want. The marinara comes in a side dish that you pour over the pasta which is surprisingly tender. While they’re certainly no replacement for a homemade marinara and pasta meal, they are great for a quick lunch.
