Disclosure – As a Sara Lee MOMent Maker, this post is part of a series on making family moments. Sara Lee has provided me with compensation and coupons in return for this post. Participation in this program is voluntary; all opinions are my own.

Between work, school, household chores and all of the busy moments throughout our week, carving out time for a moment where we can really sit down and be a family can be so difficult. A peck on the cheek as my daughter races out the door to pre-school or the wave goodbye as my son runs off to play with his friends after school aren’t exactly the family moments I had dreamed of when my husband and envisioned our lives together.

For that reason, we’ve always dedicated our Sunday evenings to Family Night. It’s a time where there are no cell phones, no email, no friends popping over, just quality time for the five of us. We use this night to really be together and enjoy spending time with one another whether we’re watching a family movie, playing a board game or playing some music for an hour of dancing. It’s the kind of uninterrupted fun I wish we had time for every moment of our lives together.

3 Kids and Us Family Movie Night

To make our most recent family movie night even more fun, we followed the movie with a family-style dessert. We went no holds barred with our dessert and really let the kids get into the moment.

Even though you often see me make fancy desserts full of detail and decorations, sometimes the best recipe for a great family dessert combines the simplest of ingredients and lots of little helping hands.

Knowing how much my kids love to help in the kitchen, we brought in a little help from Sara Lee to make our family moment dessert night not only fun, but easy! With the pound cake already prepared and packaged, I don’t have to worry about measurements or oven burns. We can take Sara Lee All Butter Pound Cake right out of the freezer and allow our kids to share in the excitement of creating a dessert.

banana split ingredients

For a child, what could possibly be more exciting than the thought of bananas, hot fudge, strawberries, pineapple, whipped cream, ice cream and pound cake all ready to be layered into a colossal family style banana split sundae?
