When my husband and I booked our very first (and so far only) Disney World vacation package, we weren’t quite sure what to expect in terms of dining. Looking at the website I saw there were a ton of options throughout the resorts and theme parks. What we didn’t realize was that many of them required advance reservations, and I mean ADVANCE, like months. During our stay we called every day to see which restaurants were available and the cast members were extremely helpful. Our options were pretty limited as far as sit-down dining goes, we each had one meal plan credit to use per day.
One of our very first meals was at Tony’s Town Square Restaurant just inside the Magic Kingdom park entrance. This sit-down, casual restaurant is themed around Disney’s Lady and the Tramp movie complete with decor, ambiance and an assortment of Italian food on the menu.
Since we didn’t have reservations we went a bit early hoping not to have a long wait. Unforunately, long wait times are par for course with anything Disney World related. We spent a little over an hour hanging out in the lobby waiting for a table. Seating was limited during the wait but the kids didn’t mind and managed to keep themselves entertained with other little ones running around.
When we were finally seated the meal went very quickly. Our server started us off with a plate of hot rolls, butter and seasoned olive oil for dipping.
It wasn’t long at all before the main course arrived. My husband opted for the New York Strip Steak with potatoes and seasonal veggies. I’m shocked I even managed to get a picture of this dish because after a long day of walking through Magic Kingdom, we were starving!
Being the lover of Italian food in the family I went for the Chicken Parmigiana dinner which was actually really good. My only complaint is the lack of marinara sauce but our server was so nice and brought me an extra side of it.
The kids plates were adorable with the Mickey face plates and portion sizes are far bigger than they could eat in one sitting.
The best part of the meal … dessert! My husband was in 7th heaven with his chocolate cake layered with chocolate-hazelnut filling.
Again, I went for an Italian favorite with the Tiramisu dessert. It’s not the best I’ve ever had but it was still tasty and decorated with a cocoa powder Lady and the Tramp design right on the plate.
Overall, our experience with Tony’s Town Square restaurant was wonderful. It was included in our dining plan, tasty and a family-friendly experience that I’d definitely do all over again.
