Cooking with the Maytag Gemini Electric Double Oven Range #MaytagMoms

With Christmas less than a week away now, there’s a lot going on in our home. Aside from the usual cleaning, grocery shopping and gift wrapping, we’re also getting our kitchen ready for the big dinner. One thing I’m really counting on is my Maytag kitchen appliance group.

Since Christmas dinner will be hosted at my house I have the task of baking the ham, rolls, macaroni and cheese. I’ll also be filling up the top of my range with assorted vegetable side dishes. Earlier this month our Maytag single oven electric range was replaced with the Maytag Gemini® Electric Double Oven Range with EvenAir™ True Convection. The first oven we received had an issue with the outside getting too hot. However, this new oven has been a dream come true. The double oven allows me to bake up to 3 different dishes with two different temperatures all at the same time. So this Christmas while the ham and mac ‘n cheese are getting warmed up in the large bottom oven, my rolls will be baking in the smaller top oven.

When Christmas dinner is all done and eaten, I expect to be left with quite a mess to clean. I’m very eager to try out the self-cleaning feature on both ovens that has an innovative coating with AquaLift Self-Clean technology that activates with water and heat to release tough baked on soils from underneath. I’ll definitely let you know how that goes next week!

As for cooking on the 5 burner electric range, I can’t even begin to express how helpful it has become while I’m cooking our big family dinners. It’s so helpful to be able to get potatoes boiling quickly on the Speed Heat burner, pan fry chicken breasts for the family in one skillet on the Triple Choice element, cook pasta on a burner, a vegetable on another burner and keep gravy warm on the smaller warming burner.

The control panel is well organized and incredibly easy to use whether you’re using either oven, convection baking or using the built-in kitchen timer.

My only complaint right now is the issue I have with cleaning the cook top. There’s a groove that goes around the entire edge of the surface and it collects so much gunk, stray rice, and small particles that it’s difficult to clean. I’ve found that a sponge doesn’t get into this area and I have to use a Q-tip to really get it cleaned out.

  1. I used to have a double oven, until it broke about a year and a half ago. I loved it! Reading your post is making me miss mine so much. I had the same problem with the groove. Using a Qtip is a great idea though!

    • I use to be skeptical of double ovens, they looked so small. But this one has a ton of baking space, although I do kinda miss that bottom drawer. It was a great spot for my cookie sheets.
