*I was provided with tips and products from Clean & Clear
It’s been 12 years since I’ve thought about Graduation Day. Honestly, I didn’t even go to my own high school graduation ceremony. By the time my peers were walking across the stage I had graduated a semester early, enrolled at the local community college and walked down the aisle with my husband. I had no interest in being center stage, even if it was among 300 other classmates. But for a lot of students, this is the biggest day of their teenage lives.
I don’t know about you but for me, high school came with a lot of anxiety. Not only was I being introduced to over 1,000 new students but I had also just started puberty. For many students, myself included, puberty = pimples. And when it came time for graduation, my face was still speckled with those embarrassing little blemishes. What I didn’t know at the time is that there are loads of products available for treating acne.
Even at my age Clean & Clear offers a product line that helps me battle the monthly pimple outbreak. So whether you’re getting ready to graduate or looking back on the special day attending a graduation, there’s a few products and some excellent tips below that will help you put your best face forward for the big day.
Expert “Youthologist” and Author: Vanessa Van Petten
“Graduation day can be one of the most memorable, but also most stressful, days of a teen’s life. Be sure to prepare early. Designate a family member to be in charge of the video camera so every special moment is captured. And, if teens want to be glowing in pictures, they should start taking care of their skin at least two weeks before the big day. Also remind them to break in their shoes—especially if they are new. Grads always end up walking way more than they would expect on the big day.”
And after the big day is just a memory, here’s some helpful advice for keeping a clear and healthy complexion during the summer months.
Dermatologist: Dr. Whitney Bowe
FOR TEENS: “Keep cool by using a lightweight, oil free moisturizer with an SPF of 30 or above so the skin can breathe but it’s still protected from the sun’s rays. Stick to either a tinted BB cream or simply dust a bronzer over the forehead, nose and cheekbones to give skin a glow without the risk of foundation dripping down one’s face mid-ceremony!”
FOR MOMS: “Pack cold water to sip and press the cool bottle against your wrists and behind your knees to help bring your core temperature down. Don’t forget to pack a broad-brimmed hat and feel free to use the graduation program as a fan!”
So as the school year comes to a close, I hope you’ll remember these tips and maybe even be able to share some of that advice with the graduates in your life. Come Friday I’ll be thinking of my own niece as she graduates and sent her off with a special gift and some of my favorite Clean & Clear products.
