Emma's third birthday was on Friday but we waited until Saturday to celebrate with her family party. I was joking on Facebook this morning that now that Emma is three it's probably time I stop calling her my baby. Even though she clearly walks, talks, recites the alphabet and can use an iPhone better than I can, she's still my baby. She'll always be my baby! The past two weeks ... simply put ... CRAZY! I spent most of my time worrying, crying and hoping for good news when my husbands "stomach flu" actually turned out to be a sludge filled and infected gallbladder that made him so sick it had to be removed. It was a scary time for all of us which him in the hospital, me worrying if he was going to be okay and the kids, never having been away from their dad for 24 hours worrying about him too. … [Read more...]
This week (and last week) has been incredibly stressful and exhausting for our family. It all started with colds and what we thought was the stomach flu which oddly turned into gallbladder surgery for my husband. Not having him home for dinner, bedtime stories or hugs was so hard on the kids. It absolutely broke my heart having to put them to bed each night without their daddy's hugs and kisses. YES! THESE ARE MY KIDS! I personally conceived each one. I carried each 8+ pound baby to full term. I was torn inside out to expel these beautiful little beings into the world. I breastfed 1 of 3 for 14 months. Yes, yes, yes, these are my children. I promise. And yes, I know, not one of them looks the slightest bit like me. Eleven years ago today my husband and I celebrated our first Valentine's Day together. Truth be told, I can't remember a single thing about it. I've dealt with my share of disrespectful outbursts and pre-teen back-talk. I imagine there's plenty more to come given the fact that our son is only ten with two sassy daughters right behind him. Growing up in the house I did, disrespecting a parent resulted in some serious punishment.
