Celebrating a child’s birthday is one of the most exciting, yet stressful holidays in our house. Between planning the theme and finding affordable ways to celebrate, it can give me quite a headache trying to orchestrate it all. This year, we found a much more simple way to celebrate thanks to Betty Crocker. We were given $100, free product coupons and a Flip camera to celebrate our daughter’s first birthday and see just how we could pull it all together in a fun and stress free way.
The biggest help in pulling this event together was the Betty Crocker Birthday Party guide. You can find everything you need including instructional videos, shopping lists, party activities and games, and even invitations that can be printed from your home computer!
There are over 30 birthday party ideas for kids of all ages, boys, girls and babies. To celebrate Emma’s 1st birthday, we chose the Magical Princess Castle Party!
Baking a Princess Castle Cake with Betty Crocker
The Betty Crocker online birthday guide was by far the biggest help for us in creating a well planned party for Emma, all themed around the Princess Castle cake. What appeared to be a complicated cake was actually VERY easy to do thanks to the the demonstration video from Liv Hansen at the Betty Crocker Kitchens. My 5 year old would LOVE it if I made him the Pony Pals cake. He has loved horses since he could tell us that he does.

I like the building blocks cakes for my son. He’s always building something cool.
On its release last year I couldn’t find much to fault Avatar on. But after watching Alice – the first serious CGI-dominated 3D film since James Cameron’s immersive motion picture – there’s now a glaring issue with it: the bar was set waaay too high. Previously the computer generated effects in Alice would have knocked your socks off, however in a post-Avatar world it significantly underwhelms. Not an overly fair statement for a film which has consistently beautiful and detailed images – take the awe-inspiring climactic clash which is set on a chess board-esquire battlefield for example – but you can thank Cameron for that. Once you get past the fact that Burton’s creation does not aim to achieve realistic environments or creatures and that the actors will never appear to be anywhere other than in front of a green screen, you are in good stead to enjoy the colourful animation for what it was intended for: pure, undemanding, trippy wonderment.

Building Blocks Birthday Party
Old McDonald’s Farm would be so cute for my grandson to take to daycare. I used to buy store bought cakes for everyone’s birthday but they’re really not too good. This year I decided to make my kids and grandbabies cakes myself. My daughter had a birthday a month ago and I made her a Peanut Butter Cup Cake…it was delicious!! This would really be helpful and I could be more creative. Thanks for the offer.
