April Fools’ Day, celebrated the first day of April every year, is a day of fun, practical jokes and general foolishness. Growing up, I remember the silly jokes I played on my parents and classmates which wasn’t limited to clear soap on the toilet seat or switching my dads jug of tea out for lemonade.

Now that I’m a mom and wife, the pranks haven’t ceased. I just have my fun in the kitchen with April Fools’ Day foods. Kraft recently shared some really fun ideas for dinner and dessert pranks to play on the family and I even came up with one of my own.

These quirky food combos are sure to cause a little shock, awe and finger lickin’ fun when you you change up the traditional meal time menus.

April Fools Cake – Although it may look like a warm dish of cake with fluffy whipped topping, one bite and our family will quickly discover layers of meatloaf and mashed potatoes. Who knew tricks could be so tasty?

Potato Topped Mini Meatloaves – Cupcakes for dinner are always appropriate … when they’re made with layers of delicious meatloaf “cake” and mashed potatoes n gravy “icing”.

Spaghetti and Oozing Eyeballs – This traditional spaghetti and meatballs dinner is far from ordinary with the addition of some eye popping effects on the meatballs using oozing cheese and black olives.

Have Dessert for Dinner

Pizza has never been so sweet, especially when the crust is kicked up with sugar, the sauce is creamy and the topping are oh so fruity.

Chocolate Lovers Pizza – Chocolate. Pizza. Need I really say more? Oh yeah, marshmallows for a little extra gooey sweetness.

Strawberry Dessert Pizza – Nothing gets you in the mood for Spring like fresh strawberries especially when they’re paired a crunchy sugar cookie “crust”.

PHILADELPHIA Fruit Pizza – Another fruity pizza that is packed full of nutrients and gives you opportunity the incorporate your kids’ favorite fruits.
