Aloha Friday – That Sweet Sound

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog and leave your link at An Island Life – The home of Aloha Friday. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!

My question….

Do you ever sing your children a lullaby before bed? Or maybe a special song you sang to them as babies?

I’ve always hummed a tune to my kids (because I can’t sing to save my life). It’s a tune that was in a wind up teddy bear I had as a baby but the problem is…I have no idea what the words are to it or what it’s called.

  1. When they were babies I would make up cute little songs and sing to them but they are older and by the time 8:30 gets here….I am pushing ‘em in the bed and pulling those covers over their lil heads! lol

  2. angie says:

Yes every since the oldest one was a baby we would sing the winnie the pooh song and this has carried over to the grandbaby and nieces and nephews

  3. When they were babies I did. We usually read before bed now.

  4. Yes….ever since she was born. I made up one song (she still loves) and I sing “Baby Mine” from Dumbo…….love it!

  5. Annie says:

Yes, I did when they were babies and sometimes I sing.

    Have a nice weekend.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today.

  6. Allison says:

I don’t sing to my oldest anymore but I passed down her song to my youngest, which is “you are my sunshine”. It always relaxed them.

  7. Olga says:

yes,I have for all 5 of my children! The same song.Jesus, there’s something about that name.My twinkies will calm to it immied.it is amazing!

  8. Shana says:

No :( My oldest used to cry when I would sing to him when he was a baby and when he was older he would say noooooooo lol I would hum to my younger two but they also weren’t fans of me singing they preferred to be rocked

  9. When my boys were little would have their last feeding from 7:00 – 7:30 during Jeopardy, so the song during final Jeopardy would be the last thing they heard before they fell asleep. It kind-of got to be thier lullaby, I would hum it to them if I wanted them to fall asleep for a nap or if we were out somewhere, and it would work. To this day, it is a joke and they are almost 19 & 22. :-)

  10. Stacie says:

Sometimes I just sing to the radio to Brittany and she falls asleep but nothing in particular.

  11. susan murphy says:

For my granddaughter i sing Don’t sit under the apple tree…………..and I love you…bushel and peck! xx

  12. Deborah says:

If nothing else worked I would sing to them songs I made up as I went along. Funny the words didn’t matter, just the look and tone of my voice did the trick.

  13. I sing to Emma on the way to bed – Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, usually, but it really depends on my mood. :-)

  14. Badger Momma says:

Three songs and one singing story.

    1) When I’m 64
    2) Edelweiss
    3) Eleanor Rigby

    4) A singing bit we made up for the Troll in the Three Billy Goats Gruff.

    They still love these.

  15. Kayla says:

I don’t have kids, so there is no need to make ears bleed with my ‘lovely‘ voice. LOL
I’m sure if I did have kids, I would sing/hum to them, though-They don’t mind mummy has a terrible voice that makes dogs howl ;-)
