Since early November I’ve been wishing, hoping and even praying for just one good snowy winter. In years past this wish would come true with a blizzard or two. But recent years has given us very mild winters where we’re lucky to see even a few inches of the fluffy stuff.
Well, my wish finally came true … in the form of a heaping pile of several inches of snow. Once the huge flakes starting coming down they really piled up fast. There were no complaints here because my youngest, Miss Emma, was ready to try on her new Snowsuit. Just a few weeks ago One Step Ahead sent us the Kids 3-in-1 Snow Jacket and Kids 3-in-1 Snow Bibs. We had the set hidden in the closet waiting until it got cold and snowy enough to try them out.
I can assume it’s a pretty cozy set for harsh temperatures because I was frozen long before Miss Emma was ready to head inside and warm up.
Even as I tried to coax her in the house with the lure of some hot cocoa she plopped down right in the driveway to make her very first snow angel of 2013. It’s a good thing the set is made with water-repellent material.
When getting her bundled up for some snow day play time there’s a few features that really stood out to me. The Jumpsuit has a zipper on the back-side where you take the suspenders off and turn the bibs into snow pants. Half-zipped it’s also easier to get in and out of the bibs.
There’s even elastic foot straps to help keep the pants in place while putting on snow boots.
The cuffs are adjustable too. The Velcro makes it easy to keep the cuffs tight around her little wrists without letting wet snow creep up the sleeve.
Adjustable elastic suspenders makes it easy to get the perfect fit and grow with your child.
The big problem I find with buying snow suits is they often only last one season. That’s a lot of money to spend for something that could be worn only a few times. One Step Ahead really did think ahead here and designed this set so it grows with your child. On the pants, you can snip the hem stitch to release an extra TWO inches of length. The coat is three versatile jackets in one. It’s a cozy fleece jacket (for Fall), it’s a water-repellent parka (for Spring), or zip them together, and it’s a toasty warm winter coat (for Winter). The sleeves feature no-sew, quick-release seams that add 1-1/2 inches in length to grow with your child.
