This time last year I was at 15 pounds lighter and hitting the pavement every single day. My goal at the time was to lose 40 pounds. And you know what, I almost got there by the end of summer with a 30 pound weight loss. Then Fall/Winter showed up, I got lazy and ate my way right back up to my original weight. Then my dad died and I gained another 10 pounds in less than a month. Getting my body to a healthy weight is a constant battle and it’s one that I refuse to give up.
So tonight I dug through my closet and pulled out my yoga pants and a trust C9 by Champion t-shirt and got to steppin’. Now usually we just take all the kids out to the bike trail for a family walk but sometimes fitness is all about you! When the kids are in bed and the hubby is obsessing with his Candy Crush game it’s easier to just put on some head phones and hit the pavement.

The thing about walking is it’s easy to get lost in. After about the 10th song on my iPhone I looked down at the Map My Walk app on my phone and realized I was just half a mile away from walking a 5k. Knowing that was exactly the motivation I needed to keep on going. While it’s not the greatest time in the world, I’m proud of myself for pushing through. Now the real trick is carving out the time to do it every single weeknight! I’m hoping by mid summer I’ll be back at Target replacing some of my workout clothes with a smaller size. And since it’s affordable and comfy attire, I don’t mind needing to buy new clothes.
