A little over ten years ago my husband and I were blessed with our first very unexpected child. We were newly weds, very young and family planning wasn’t even a discussion we’d ever had.
At that point in my life, I was still under the mindset that I would go to college and very likely, never have children. Truth be told, I didn’t particularly like children.
Having a son of my own changed my life in ways I could never have imagined. Suddenly, I was a mother and I was actually enjoying it. I knew then that I most certainly wanted more kids it was just a matter of when. I was still very young and my husband was in the beginning of a very new and demanding career.
Years passed and we decided to go for it and I gave birth to our second child, a beautiful baby girl. After having a son and a daughter, my husband decided our family was complete and I was, well, wishy-washy on the idea of my child bearing years to be put to a halt. That’s when baby number 3 popped up and our lives were forever changed. We were suddenly outnumbered by children, our schedules went haywire and the food bill went through the roof. Three children brought so much joy and equally so much stress into our lives that we knew anything beyond a family pet would break us emotionally and financially.
