There’s something new in the world of chocolate and surprisingly it comes from Jif, the brand known for peanut butter. While I may turn my nose up while making the kids PB&J sandwiches, there’s no way I can resist a chocolate hazelnut spread. Straight from the jar, on a slice of toast, smeared over a cupcake, slathered on a graham cracker, no matter what you put it on (or don’t), it’s simply sinful and delicious!

I have two jars, one Jif Chocolate Hazelnut flavor and one Jif Mocha Cappuccino flavor … both at this very moment are hidden in my desk drawer. They’re so tasty that I refuse to even give the kids a chance to gobble them up.

jif hazelnut spreads

And … I’ve got a recipe that will get your taste buds excited! It all starts with a simple pancake recipe (my personal favorite being on a Bisquik box) and lots of chocolate chips. This could be a decadent breakfast or a dessert to cap off a day, but either way it’s one worth trying.

milk chocolate chip pancakes

What makes these ordinary chocolate chip pancakes extra-ordinary is the topping. Nothing takes better with chocolate than a little coffee and with Jif Mocha Cappuccino Hazelnut Spread, you get the best of both worlds. Right out of the jar it’s thick and creamy, perfect for a spoon dip. But if you want to top pancakes with it you just splash some milk on a few tablespoons of the spread and whisk them together for a sweet topping. That’s exactly what I did after stacking up these warm chocolaty pancakes.

You can even toss on a few chopped marshmallows or white chocolate chips to up the sweet factor.

Keep your eyes peeled next week because I’ll have some more recipes to share using this hazelnut spread duo …. perhaps even some ice cream!
